Your'e ferry welcome as Sound of Kintyre praises the arrival of 'Kintyre Express'
February 2006
Sound of Kintyre has welcomed news that a new ferry is to link Kintyre with
the Ayrshire coast.
The exciting development from ferry operator Kintyre Express means Campbeltown is to have a link with Troon three times a week from May.
Sound of Kintyre and estate agency Clyde say the development is sure to be a boost to the property and tourism industry in Kintyre.
A spokesman for Clyde which is marketing the Sound of Kintyre properties said: 'This is tremendously good news indeed. It's the first time in many years that the Ayrshire coast has had a ferry link to Kintyre.
'It can only serve to help the local tourism infrastructure and make property in this tranquil and picturesque area even more appealing.
'Troon's proximity to Glasgow Prestwick International Airport means travellers now have another option of journeying to KIntyre by air and sea via Prestwick and Troon from just about anywhere. We wish Kintyre Express well.'
Kintyre Express has announced on its website www.kintyreexpress.com that it will sail twice daily, three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The journey time for the 31 mile route is expected to be around an hour with
fares starting at £39 return.
